Vertically Align Text Word For Mac



I have been unable to figure out how to center text vertically on a page in the 2011 version of Office for Mac. I recently converted an old manuscript done in Windows 2007 to Mac 2011.docx and while the text appears to be centered on the page when I convert it a pdf, it no longer is. Mac Mini, Mac OS X (10.5.7). The vertical word is here, it's a vectorial item which may be enlarged as we want. Align text vertically within a cell More Less. I have a line of code in my doc:

See how it's all the way at the top and left of the available space?

I'd like to have it centered vertically and horizontally within this space, something like this:

Is this possible without creating a table?

Looks like the text is in its own paragraph.And it looks as if the paragraph attributes includes:

  1. left-justified;
  2. some indent, and
  3. some 'below' vertical space.

If this is the case, you could try changing the paragraph attributes by

  1. Select the paragraph.
  2. Remove the indent
  3. Change the justification to centre
  4. Add some 'above' vertical space.

BTW, much of word's formatting is per-paragraph.When working out this kind of issue it is helpful to display the paragraph markers so that you can see where the boundaries are.

To do this, find the set of options that control paragraph formattingand locate a button with a paragraph symbol on it;this symbol looks like a backwards P.(On my version of word this is on the Home tab, next to some buttons thatcontrol numbered paragraphs, bullet paragraphs, etc.)

When you press this button, you will see paragraph markers on the screen(also space indicators, tabs, line breaks, etc.)Although these markers won't appear on printed output.

With Adobe InDesign, you can align text horizontally as well as vertically within a text frame on the page. Aligning text horizontally gives you the ability to justify the text to the left, center or right of the frame, while vertical alignment pushes text to the top, center or bottom of the frame. Use InDesign's “Text Frame Options” tool to achieve the text alignment that you require for your document.

Align Text Vertically

Launch Adobe InDesign. Open the document containing the text that you want to align vertically.

Click the “Type” tool, which is represented by the “T” icon in the toolbar. Click on a text frame to highlight the item. Alternately, click the “Selection” tool, represented by the bar icon in the toolbar, and then select and highlight the text in a text frame.

Click “Object” in the main menu. Select “Text Frame Options” from the context menu to open the Text Frame Options dialog. Locate the “Vertical Justification” section in this box.

Click the “Top” option to vertically align the text from the top of the text frame. Select the “Center” option to vertically align text in the center of the frame. Choose the “Bottom” option to align the text from the bottom of the frame. To evenly space text lines between the top and bottom of the frame, click the “Justify” option.

Align Text Horizontally

Select the text frame with the 'Type' tool or 'Selection' tool from the toolbar.

Click the button for the preferred alignment from the options in the “Control” or “Paragraph” panels. Select from any of the standard horizontal alignment options of “Align Left,” “Align Center” and “Align Right.” You can also use the text alignment and justification options to align and justify text. Options include “Left Justify,” “Center Justify,” “Right Justify” and “Full Justify.” Additional options include “Align Toward Spine” or “Align Away From Spine” to align the text flow toward or away from the spine edge of the page.

How To Vertically Align Text Word

  • You can align text horizontally and vertically in a text frame by selecting the text and applying both the horizontal and vertical alignment tools in turn.
